Optimizing Your Plastic Surgery Recovery

Now that you’ve decided to have plastic surgery, you need to decide where to recover. Depending upon the procedure, you may experience varying degrees of discomfort and lowered energy levels. This is a time when you will need extra special care. Your recovery care choice should be made in consultation with Dr. Vu and our nursing staff. The decision is an important one as it can impact your ultimate result. We are happy to recommend any of the following options for your consideration.

YOUR PLASTIC SURGERY RECOVERY OPTIONS

Family or Friends: Because you will have been sedated in plastic surgery, you must have someone with you during the first 24 hours of your recovery. Patients often choose to go home
with a friend or family member as their caretaker. While this is an excellent
choice for emotional support, it does not provide professional medical care.
This option is especially appropriate for patients having single rather than
multiple procedures. Our medical staff will advise you in this regard.

TLC: The Temporary Living Center located at Legacy Meridian Park Hospita. It is a “home away from home” for people who need a protected environment for brief periods of time. TLC is designed for semi-independent guests who may require some assistance with activities of daily living and simple nursing care, but who do not require acute nursing care or continuous medical supervision.

WHO USES THE TLC?
TLC is intended for use by :

  1. Pre and post surgical patients who need a supervised environment.
  2. Individuals traveling to the hospital over long distances for outpatient services.
  3. Families of hospitalized patients who do not wish to leave the hospital or who should not be alone.
  4. People whose are givers are in need of respite from their responsibilities.
  5. Patients recently discharged from a healthcare facility who cannot or do not wish to be alone.

WHAT IS THE CHARGE?
Two levels of care are available:

  1. Full Services: $219 per day: this includes private room with bath, telephone and television, as well as all meals and assistance with personal care and medication administration.
  2. Hotel Services: $95 per day: this includes private room with bath, telephone and television for totally independent individuals. Meals may be purchased in the hospital dining room. The daily check out time is 11:00 am.

WHO PAYS FOR THE CARE?
TLC’s charge for accommodations are usually not eligible for insurance reimbursement. Fees are payable at the time of discharge from the TLC. Additionally, charges incurred as an outpatient for pre-authorized medical treatments (such as emergency room services, radiology, lab tests, cardiac rehab, and rehab therapies) can be billed directly to the insurance company.
