Juvederm® Prodecure Description:

An injection of numbing medicine (Lidocaine) may be used, if desired.

Hyaluronic acid is present in all living organisms.

In your skin it creates volume, resulting in a healthy and vital appearance. Juvederm® contains hyaluronic acid in the form of a crystal-clear gel injected into the skin to lift the lip, wrinkle or fold. Once in the skin, Juvederm® works together with the body’s own hyaluronic acid and join forces to create volume.

Juvederm® Recuperation And Healing

There may be some mild swelling and redness after the procedure. Using ice will help to decrease this. Most patients look normal with make-up within one hour.

Occasionally, mild bruising may be seen or small dots may appear at the locationswhere the needles were inserted, which may last between one to two weeks. Results may vary from each individual.

Juvederm® Other Options

Wrinkles can be treated with laser resurfacing or Botox. Another type of filling material can be used such as fat.

Juvederm® Potential risks

A. Scabbing and scarring

In rare cases, scabs and skin sloughing at the injection site have resulted in a shallow scar. This is a remote risk.

B. Lumpiness and uneveness

Whenever additional material is injected into the lips, some irregularities, lumpiness or unevenness may occur in spite of best efforts. Massage and the passage of time will almost always eliminate the problem.

C. Reactions

Allergic reactions are uncommon but can occur.

D. Temporary results

This treatment is not permanent as all of the injected materials will be absorbed with time. The result can vary, but should last between six to nine months. Subsequent injections will probably be required to maintain the desired result.

Most patients are comfortable returning to work after 7-10 days. Some swelling may persist for several months after the initial treatment.
